Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing a £53 million player who is outscoring Vlahovic

Dusan Vlahovic

Arsenal is said to have identified a new transfer target for the summer transfer season.

The Gunners need to enhance their attacking alternatives as soon as this season is over.

Given that Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are both out of contract, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been ousted, Folarin Balogun could be Arsenal’s only recognised striker come June.

During the January transfer window, Dusan Vlahovic was extensively connected with a move to the Emirates Stadium, but the former Fiorentina striker ended up joining Juventus instead.

Arsenal is one of many clubs interested in Benfica striker Darwin Nunez, according to Calciomercato, ahead of the summer window.

The North Londoners, on the other hand, are said to be eyeing a striker who has scored more goals than Vlahovic this season.

According to the report, the Uruguay international may earn up to £53 million.

Darwin has 25 goals in all competitions this season, one more than Vlahovic has for Juve and Fiorentina combined.

REALISTIC TARGET

It is unquestionably a high price, but Arsenal is desperate.

The Londoners will need multiple new centre-forwards once the window opens unless they extend Lacazette’s contract, which seems unlikely given his three Premier League goals this season.

Darwin has only played in Portugal so far, but with 25 goals under his belt at the age of 22, he’s surely worth a shot.

So many of Arsenal’s new recruits under Mikel Arteta and Edu are under the age of 23, fueling conjecture that the pair actually want the young South American to join them at the Emirates.
