Fabrizio Romano: Arsenal could make a move to sign £40M PL Star In January

Arsenal News

Arsenal have long been linked with a move to sign midfielder from Leicester City, and Fabrizio Romano feels it is ‘one to watch’ in the January transfer window.

Before the World Cup started, the Gunners’ priority in terms of strengthening their squad was to bring in a new wide player and also a central midfielder. However, after Gabriel Jesus’ injury, Edu and Mikel Arteta could have to dive into the market for a new striker.

Romano, however, feels a move for Tielemans could still be on the cards. Fabrizio Romano thinks Arsenal could make a move to sign Youri Tielemans in January. Tielemans has been linked with a move to Arsenal since the start of this year.

The Belgian, who joined Leicester from Monaco for £40 million following a successful loan spell in 2019 (The Sun), has entered the final year of his contract.

He’ll have less than six months remaining this time next week, and the winter window will be Leicester’s final opportunity to make some money off him. If they don’t, he’ll walk away for free in the summer.

Romano has revealed that Arsenal still have Tielemans on their list and the Belgian remains very much appreciated at the club. He believes this link is one to keep an eye on as Arsenal could make a late move to sign him – just like they tried to do last summer.

The journalist told GiveMeSport: “Tielemans has always been on the list at Arsenal, he has always been appreciated. They always had his name on their list.

“At the moment, there are no conversations with Leicester, but I think this is one to watch because in the summer, Arsenal arrived in the final days to try to approach Leicester for Tielemans, then they did the same with Aston Villa for Douglas Luiz.”
