Brazilian media reported that a former spouse of the Manchester United attacker had accused him of domestic violence.
According to Globo Esporte, the Brazilian’s former girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin has denounced him to the police for “domestic violence, threat, and bodily injury.”
According to Cavallin, Antony assaulted her on May 20. Her accusation reportedly contains “photos of abrasions and threatening messages” from the former Ajax player.
There has been no formal statement from Manchester United or the player, so it is unclear what the police will draw from the evidence.
This troubling news comes in the wake of the ongoing problems involving Mason Greenwood, who has been placed on administrative leave, and club legend Ryan Giggs, who is scheduled to stand trial again next month on charges of assault brought by his ex-girlfriend.
Since joining United, Antony has shown some promise, but these claims off the pitch sound like they may get very serious.
