‘One To Watch’: Fabrizio Romano Says £30M Midfielder Wanted By Arsenal Could Move Today

Arsenal Breaking News

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Aston Villa midfielder could be on the move before tonight’s deadline with Arsenal reportedly interested in signing the Brazilian.

The Italian journalist took to Twitter to post that the 24-year-old Premier League star will be ‘one to watch’ today as Luiz’s midfielder currently sits in the balance, with Villa reportedly now open to selling the former Manchester City star amid reports that Arsenal are interested in the midfielder.

With a reported price tag of £30m, Luiz will be a hefty signing for Arsenal should the Gunners move for the midfielder, with Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar targeting a player in this position following this week’s news that Mohamed Elneny will be out injured for some time.

Indeed, whilst Albert Sambi Lokonga was one of the best performers against Villa this week in a 2-1 win for Arsenal, reinforcements in the central midfield position are needed for the north London side, yet given Luiz’s profile and potential asking price, the Gunners could do better than the Brazilian international.

Arsenal will no doubt be frantically looking to sign a central midfielder today, yet should all options fail, this is when Luiz could become a possibility for the Gunners, with Villa star a player who could fit Arteta’s system and act as cover in multiple positions for the squad.

After all, Luiz has excelled in recent years for Villa as a deep-lying playmaker as well as a combative defensive midfielder, and for Arsenal, these are qualities they are seeking in a new signing today, but only for the right price, something Villa could be unwilling to give despite interest in the wantaway South American.
