Real Madrid have held talks with the representatives of Chelsea forward over a possible summer transfer.
After confirming the exits of Karim Benzema, Marco Asensio, Eden Hazard, and Mariano Diaz, the Spanish team is aiming to strengthen their forward line this summer, and Havertz is considered as a cost-effective, elite alternative.
Harry Kane of Tottenham is the favoured Benzema replacement, as Real management believe Havertz to be the adaptable attacker who might take Hazard’s place in the lineup.
This summer, Havertz will begin the final two years of his contract, and Chelsea, which is loath to have any player reach that point in their agreement, has stated that he still has a future with the team.
Goal Gazette understands that Chelsea executives are well aware of the necessity to sell players this summer in order to raise money, and Havertz, who is among the top paid players at the club, may very likely be sold if he makes it known that he wants to leave.
While willing to work with Havertz, new Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is also willing to approve the 23-year-old’s transfer if the proper offer materialises. There are many interested teams in Europe.
As was previously reported in March, Bayern Munich is eager to recruit Havertz, but Real Madrid has also recently spoken with the German’s representation and is thought to be quite interested in enticing him to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Goal Gazette has learned that Paris Saint-Germain has also been made aware of the prospect of Havertz departing Chelsea in the summer as demand for his services continues to rise.
Since joining Chelsea in the summer of 2020, Havertz has made 139 appearances, primarily playing as the team’s centre striker. However, the Blues are hoping to add to that position this summer and have targeted Napoli’s Victor Osimhen as their ideal acquisition.
Christopher Nkunku, an attacking midfielder who will be joining Chelsea from RB Leipzig this summer, has already committed to the move.
