Fernandes attempts to make a clean break to the right. He is hindered. When the ball breaks to Casemiro, he lobs a pass for Sancho down the inside of the right channel. With only one touch, Martial has the ball rolling across the goal face and into the back of the net. Casemiro scores and (kind of) assists!
Sancho has room to move down the inside-right channel. Chukwuemeka can waltz off upfield since he has alternatives in the centre but cuts back to nobody in particular. Old Trafford mutters.
Gallagher approaches the area as Fernandez slips a pass his way down the inside-right channel, and he scuffs a shot across De Gea and just inches wide of the left-hand post. Another tremendous opportunity was passed up. I don’t say this very frequently, but I’d be curious to know the xG of this first part.
Gallagher enters some space down the middle thanks to Azpilicueta’s lovely backheel. Aiming a curler at the top-right corner of the net, he spreads his torso open. It solely locates the Stretford End’s upper-right corner. A few of his more knowledgeable team members chastise him for his inaccuracies, but given what’s happened before, they’ve got blood on their cheeks.
For Mudryk, Fernandez rolls a friendly pass down the inside-left channel. Anyone who had even the slightest amount of confidence would take the touch, go into the area, and shoot. Mudryk, though, has none and completely blooters the ball down the channel and out for a goal kick with his first touch.
