The midfielder Bruno Fernandes had a fantastic season under Erik ten Hag, and on Saturday night, he was at his magnificent best once more as he led Portugal to victory in their European Championship final.
With United’s number eight leading the way, Portugal continued their flawless qualification record with a convincing 3-0 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina.
For his country, Fernandes scored two goals and provided an assist for a third, earning him the Man of the Match honour. As seen in the video below, the Old Trafford vice-skipper buried a powerful header before scoring a beautiful half-volley minutes later.
Portugal will now go to Iceland in an effort to pick up a fourth victory in a row before the players leave for vacation in preparation for preseason training.
In the match against Bosnia and Herzegovina, Diogo Dalot, a regular for the senior team under former boss Fernando Santos, was not utilised as a replacement.
