Lionel Messi-led FC Barcelona will host Cristiano Ronaldo-starrer Juventus on matchday 6 of the ongoing UEFA Champions League (UCL) at the famous Camp Nou stadium. The mouthwatering clash between the two giants will also reignite the decade-old rivalry between the two living legends of football – Messi and Ronaldo.
While Ronaldo’s former team Real Madrid is struggling to secure their berth in the knockout stage, an already qualified Juventus side will battle for the top spot of Group G when they travel to Barcelona for the high-voltage clash against the Messi-led side.
Barcelona and Juventus contested the 2015 final of the UEFA Champions League in which the Catalan giants managed to upstage the Turin heavyweights 3-1 at the Olympiastadion in Berlin. Messi-led Barca side has locked horns with Juventus on 12 occasions since the inception of the Champions League. In the reverse fixture earlier this season, Barca made the most of Ronaldo’s absence as they defeated the Old lady 2-0 in their own backyard.
Ronaldo had to miss the home game against Barcelona after testing for COVID-19. Messi was on target for the Catalan giants when Juventus last met Barcelona in a Champions League match. However, Messi has missed the last two Champions League matches while Ronaldo extended his record-goal tally to 132 goals in Juventus’ previous group G game against Dynamo Kyiv.
